FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS — RNSV-CA229F01BN Smart Deadbolt Lock

1.      Will this lock fit my door?

The lock fits standard doors with a thickness of 35–55 mm (approximately 1⅜″ to 2⅛″) and works with the standard 60/70 mm adjustable deadbolt included in the box. It replaces most existing single-cylinder deadbolts without special hardware. Before ordering, measure your door thickness and confirm you have a standard deadbolt bore. If you're unsure, email us a photo of your door edge and we'll confirm compatibility.

2.      How many ways can I unlock the door?

Five ways: PIN Passcode, RFID Card (2 included), Fingerprint, the TTLock smartphone app, and the manual key (2 included). There are also an interior thumb knob and a deadlock button for locking from inside.

3.      How many fingerprints, codes, and cards can I store?

Up to 100 fingerprints, 1,000 RFID cards, and 250 passcode groups; more than enough for family, guests, cleaners, and short-term rentals. All users are managed from the TTLock app.

4.      Do I need Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or a separate hub?

Neither version of setup requires a hub. Bluetooth is used to pair the lock with your phone and manage users (you must be near the lock with the keypad activated). For remote access - locking, unlocking, and receiving notifications from anywhere, connect the lock to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi during setup in the TTLock app. Full remote features and the live camera view require the Wi-Fi connection to be configured.

5.      How long does the battery last, and how do I charge it?

The included 2,500 mAh rechargeable lithium battery lasts for approximately 1,000 normal unlocks — about 3.5 months per charge. Low-battery alerts appear in the app. Charge it with any USB cable via the lock's charging port. Important: use only the supplied lithium battery pack. Standard or alkaline batteries are not supported and may damage the lock.

6.      What happens if the battery dies completely?

You're never locked out. The lock has a Type-C emergency power port on the front panel to connect a portable power bank and enter your code to get in. Two manual keys are also included. Shown in the manual.

7.      What types of passcodes and eKeys can I create?

Five types: Permanent (never expires), Timed (valid between set dates), Cyclic/Recurring (e.g., every weekend 10:00–20:00), One-time (valid for 6 hours after the start time, single use), and a password-clearing code that instantly invalidates all previous passcodes. eKeys (app access can be shared securely) come in the same types. Security note: any newly issued passcode must be used once within 24 hours of its start time, or it self-invalidates.

8.      How does the camera doorbell work?

The lock has a built-in camera, microphone, and doorbell button. When a visitor presses the bell, your phone receives a video call through the TTLock app, answer to see and speak to them in real time, from the next room or the other side of the world. You can also open the camera feed manually anytime. Note: reliable incoming call notifications depend on your phone allowing TTLock background notifications enable them during setup

9.      Can I install it myself, and how long does it take?

Yes, the lock is designed for DIY installation on a standard deadbolt replacement, and most customers complete it in 30-60 minutes with a screwdriver and drill (template and all hardware included). That said, as a best practice we recommend hiring a professional handyman or locksmith if you're not comfortable drilling into your door. Improper installation can damage the lock and is not covered under warranty. It's a small added cost for guaranteed correct fit on a product that secures your home.

10.  What warranty and support do I offer?

The lock carries a 1-year limited warranty on electronic parts and a limited lifetime warranty on mechanical parts and finish, against defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use (proof of purchase required). See our full Warranty Policy page. For help, before or after purchase, email sales@resourcensolutions.com or call +1 613-800-4050 (Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm ET). Many issues are fixed in minutes with a factory reset (hold the reset button on the back of the front panel for 5 seconds; default passcode becomes 123456#).

11.  How do I keep my lock secure after installation?

Three steps we strongly recommend:

·         Change the factory passcode immediately. The lock ships with default code 123456, replace it before first use. (The factory code is invalid once you set your own.)

·         Disable Bluetooth broadcast in the TTLock app after setup: open the lock's Settings → Bluetooth broadcast and turn it off. This stops the lock from advertising itself to nearby phones, preventing strangers from discovering or attempting to pair with it.

·         Keep the TTLock app updated and only share eKeys/passcodes with people you trust, remember you can revoke any user instantly from the app.

Note: with Bluetooth broadcast off, the lock can't be discovered by any phone including yours. PIN, fingerprint, card, manual key, and remote Wi-Fi unlocking all work normally. To add fingerprints or cards in person, or run certain firmware updates, temporarily switch broadcast back on, complete the task, then switch it off again.
